The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst is a one-of-a-kind museum celebrating picture books as a powerful form of visual storytelling and early literacy. With rotating exhibitions of original art from beloved children’s books, a hands-on art studio, and an expansive picture book library, the museum supports creativity, language development, and cultural understanding. Families and educators can explore connections between art and literacy while engaging in self-directed learning through reading, art-making, and play—all in a welcoming, intergenerational space designed for curiosity and joy.
