The Sunderland Public Library is a community learning hub offering books, audiovisual materials, and hands-on tools through its Library of Things. With programs for all ages—including afterschool activities, summer reading, kayak loans, museum passes, and local history resources—the library supports diverse interests. Its commitment to accessibility is reflected in a sensory toy collection and newly launched (Jul ’25) Sensory Friendly Hours, a pilot program supported by the American Library Association’s Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities initiative. This program invites collaboration with neurodivergent patrons and their families to co-create a calmer, more inclusive library environment.
