Pittsfield, MA ♦ Join Barrington Stage Company for KidsAct! & TeensAct! This summer, BSC is doing things a bit differently to safely accommodate the campers: by holding TeensAct! & KidsAct! as two separate three-week camps, held outdoors, location TBA. This will allow BSC to focus attention fully on one group of young people, to maintain a more contained pod-style environment with one group of campers at a time, and most importantly, to put the energy into creating the best and wackiest pieces of original musical theatre that can possibly be created! Students create an original musical with their peers to be performed on the final day of the program. Winner of the 2019 Gold Daisy Award for Best Drama/Theater lessons in the Berkshires, by Macaroni Kid.
Pittsfield, MA ♦ Play outside this summer with Adventures in Music at the Berkshire Music School! Designed for young music lovers, Adventures in Music give your budding musician a solid foundation in making-music in a fun, engaging atmosphere. Participants will enjoy group classes in world music, chorus, and creative movement on the tented lawn of BMS’s historic campus, as well as small group workshops in piano, ukulele, and visual arts interpretation. Session 1 (ages 5-9): July 5-16 and Session 2 (ages 10-13): July 19-30. And RockOn returns for pre-teen and teen musicians experienced in guitar, bass, keyboard, vocals, and drums. Aug. 2-13.
Holyoke, MA ♦ The Massachusetts Academy of Ballet welcomes dancers of all ages and levels to enroll in its summer sessions. All class sizes will be limited. Workshops for younger dancers (ages 4-6: July 26-30 & ages 7-9: Aug 2-6) include primary ballet, improvisation, acting, and games. Intensives for older dancers (ages 11 & up) include pointe, variations, pas de deux, repertory, modern, jazz and yoga. Adult Open Classes also available. The Academy studios are located at the Open Square building and feature state-of-the-art sprung floors, a dressing room and reception area. All Academy classes emphasize classical technique, musicality, artistry and creativity.
Springfield, MA ♦ The Drama Studio is a unique community where young people grow as artists, leaders, and individuals. Now offering a variety of on-site and online acting and theater programs in a safe environment, including Fantastical Scenes, where students will stage scripted and originally written fantasy scenes, build fairy houses, and prepare for a final performance /sharing. In TeenScene: Thinking Outside the Blackbox, teens will study Immersive Theater and work together to create ideas and content for a socially distanced, outdoor performance. Westfield, MA ♦ Kamp for Kids brings together children with and without disabilities in a unique integrated model that promotes understanding and growth. This summer’s Kamp experience will be offered both in-person and virtually and includes art, health, nature, and other inclusive, fun activities. As a fully inclusive summer camp, it the mission of Kamp for Kids to serve a population of both children with disabilities and their typically developing peers. Amherst, MA ♦ Amherst Montessori School will offer two 3-week play-based Summer Discovery sessions for ages 15 months through 6 years old. Children will spend much of their time outside, engaging in games, movement activities, arts and crafts, and exploring the natural world of the school’s south Amherst campus. Each 3-week session will have a limited number of children in separated cohorts for toddlers and preschool/kindergarten age. Children who nap will do so inside their cohort’s designated classroom space, with ERV ventilation and air-purifiers. Summer Discovery runs from 8:30am-4pm daily and is $350/week.

Goshen, MA ♦ IMA’s Rock the Summer (Virtually) 2021 are programs for girls and young women focusing on ensemble playing, songwriting, and recording in a deeply creative environment. Explore Rock (July 10-18) and the Performance Program (July 21-August 1) will use the Acapella app as the vehicle for collaboration and performances, students in the Home Studio Recording Program (August 5-15) will learn to use Pro Tools and an interface to raise the bar on home recording projects. Sessions end with a virtual presentation for friends and family. Faculty members are veteran musicians, engineers, and producers.

They are not sure if there will be any classes in person at that point in time, but they are still offering a full schedule of online classes through Zoom and Discord. They have classes for different age groups, so there’s something for everyone. Activities include chorus, art explorations, dance movement, Minecraft, and so much more! Northampton, MA ♦ ArtPlay encourages kids ages 6-12 to think of themselves as fundamentally creative beings with a fun, interactive, interdisciplinary approach. Space is available in the April vacation program, as well as July sessions. ArtPlay connects youth to local teaching artists and provides space and structure for youth-initiated performances and exhibitions. Charlemont, MA ♦ The Recovery Theatre is a performing arts experience for young people overcoming trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, and other behavioral health challenges. This post-workshop 5-day intensive is for any teen living with circumstances that present barriers to them becoming their fullest selves. Their innovative strength-based, holistic model—they integrate therapeutic horseback riding, circus silks, trapeze, ziplines, white water rafting, aerial park, and the gorgeous natural landscape of West County—takes into account adolescents developing endocrine and nervous systems, incorporates families, social supports and emphasizes peer interactions. This summer, The Experimentory will be offered as an exciting virtual program called Periscope. Periscope will allow students to delve into project-based creative learning, focusing on collaboration, communication, fostering creativity, building character, and developing a global outlook. Students will participate in courses like Architecture, the Science of Sports, Video Production, and Environmental Stewardship, all designed and led by Deerfield Academy teachers. Greenfield, MA ♦ Stoneleigh-Burnham School (SBS) is offering five summer opportunities! SBS offers Speak Up I and II, debate and public speaking camps for girls ages 10-18. These programs are a low-key, fun way to learn to empower their voice through conversation, debate, and public speaking. The Performing Arts Camp will offer dance, voice, and theater to coed campers ages 10-18; campers will work towards a culminating event showing all they have learned. The premier Bonnie Castle Riding Camp, a program for girls ages 8-16, is for riders of all skill levels. Girls and boys between the ages of 7-12 can also learn how to ride in the Horsemanship Day Camp.
