The Guthrie Center’s Musical Instrument Lending Library
Sharing instruments through a community library reflects a long tradition of collective music-making, which can inspire a sense of belonging and cultural pride. Making instruments available lowers barriers to participation and allows people of different ages and backgrounds to try unfamiliar sounds. Observing which instruments draw attention and how people choose them offers insight into cultural studies, community access, and how musical traditions grow through shared resources rather than ownership.
Musical Instrument Lending Library: Open every Wednesday from 1-3pm, first Sunday of each month 1-3pm, and second Thursday of each month 3-7pm
