Annual South Deerfield Fishing Derby
The Annual South Deerfield Fishing Derby is a chance for kids to try their hand at fishing, maybe for the first time. Learning happens by standing near the water, figuring out where the fish might be, then watching what happens after a line is cast. Sometimes you wait or reel in and try again. Along the way, kids become familiar with fish habitat and behavior. Because the pond is stocked, the derby also offers a way to see how people support fish populations and consider balance in local ecosystems. It’s a way to spend a morning outside, build patience, and come away with new awareness and a few stories. – Ages 12 and under.
