Nordic Skiing & Snowshoeing at Notchview
Nordic skiing began in Scandinavia, where skis were developed thousands of years ago as practical tools for winter travel. Modern trail systems show how this tradition became recreation and sport. Using track-set trails, skate lanes, or snowshoes connects participants to long-standing solutions for moving through snow. Observing technique, equipment design, and trail layout offers insight into material culture, outdoor recreation history, and winter adaptation. Discover the rich history of Nordic skiing when you visit Notchview.
Renowned for its Nordic skiing and snowshoeing, there is something for everyone. Ski Notchview this winter and enjoy over 25 miles of trails. Half of the trails are groomed and track-set for classical cross-country skiing, and 5 miles are groomed for skate skiing. A separate trail system is for “skijoring” (aka skiing with dogs). Visitors can also snowshoe alongside the ski trails or go off track and explore the backcountry. Equipment rentals are available to make your visit easier and more enjoyable.
