Music of the Guqin & Guzheng
Local musicians Stephen Dydo, Dandan Xu, and Xuan Zhou present music on the guqin and guzheng, two traditional Chinese stringed instruments. Both have long histories shaped by philosophy and changing artistic traditions in China. The guqin, with origins over 3,000 years ago, was closely associated with scholars and ideas of self-cultivation. Its quiet sound reflects attention and intention. The guzheng developed across regions, connecting music to storytelling and community life. Hearing these instruments live offers insight into how sound carries cultural values and history.
