A colorful board game is shown in close-up, featuring a vibrant map-like design with illustrated elements such as an elephant and tropical scenery. Two black dice are stacked in the foreground, showing a three and a five. In the background, four plastic game pieces—two green, one yellow, and one orange—stand on the board, slightly out of focus. The image captures the playful and adventurous spirit of tabletop games, inviting imagination and friendly competition.

Make Your Own Board Game: 4-Week Series

Thinking through how a game works builds skills in planning, sequencing, and creative problem-solving. In this hands-on series, participants ages 8+ will design and build their own board games from the ground up. Along the way, they’ll explore how game mechanics, rules, and goals shape player experience—for example, how a time limit can create tension or how cooperative play changes how players interact. Each week offers time for testing ideas, making adjustments, and asking questions like: What has to happen first? What makes the game work? And how do rules support play? Materials provided. Teens welcome. Registrants should plan to attend at least three sessions.
