Beginner Embroidery Class Series with Kaitlin Kenyon

There is something grounding about embroidery: thread in hand, fabric stretched tight, and the steady motion of stitch after stitch. As small movements build, a row of stitches can become a leaf, a border, or a letter, and the maker begins to learn how spacing, repetition, and pattern shape the surface of cloth. This quiet art encourages patience and focus while revealing connections to geometry, design, and cultural tradition. Embroidery has long been part of daily life, with stitched clothing and household textiles reflecting regional style, practical skill, and the histories carried through women’s work. It can also lead to questions about the materials themselves, including how fabric is made, how thread holds color, and how textiles relate to durability and reuse. That is part of what makes embroidery such a rich textile art. – Registration required for this 3-part series. Class dates are 4/29, 5/6 and 5/13.
