Music Appreciation with Rob Humberston: Baroque Music

Explore the grandeur of Baroque music in this session of Ages of Music History. The Baroque period, spanning roughly 1600–1750, was marked by dramatic contrasts, elaborate ornamentation, and the rise of opera as an art form. With composers like Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi shaping its soundscape, the Baroque era also advanced instrumental music and forms such as the concerto and fugue. This program supports music studies by highlighting how social, religious, and artistic movements of the 17th and 18th centuries influenced composition and performance. – Intended for lifelong learners and older self-directed teens.
