These regional food pantries and programs strengthen food security in Western Massachusetts by providing essential groceries, fresh produce, and support services to individuals and families across all four counties. - CHP Berkshires: Food for All — Provides free and discounted local produce, grocery cards, and emergency food resources in Berkshire County.
- City of Springfield Holiday Food Assistance Programs — Shares details on Thanksgiving meal distributions, food drives, and local partnerships supporting families in need throughout Springfield during the holiday season.
- Clarkdale Fruit Farms (Deerfield) — Supporting food security in Western Massachusetts by offering a free half peck of utility apples and a free squash to anyone who requests them in-store while SNAP benefits are not fully distributed.
- Community Action Pioneer Valley — Operates local food pantries and home-delivery services across Franklin and Hampshire counties to support food security in Western Massachusetts.
- Easthampton Community Center Food Pantry — Provides food assistance to residents of Easthampton, Southampton, Westhampton, and surrounding areas. Offers weekly pantry hours, emergency food boxes, and programs supporting children, families, and seniors.

Families can access free, high-quality rescued food with no eligibility screening or documentation required. Volunteers are welcome to help with sorting, loading, and deliveries.
- Margaret’s Pantry (Holyoke) — Provides weekly food distribution and volunteer opportunities.
- Open Pantry Community Services (Springfield) — Offers emergency groceries and meal assistance while engaging volunteers.
- The People’s Pantry (Great Barrington) — Provides free weekly groceries, including fresh produce, dairy, and pantry staples. No income verification required. Volunteer opportunities available.
- Small Oven Bakery (Easthampton) — Their “Bread for Friends” program offers a free loaf on fresh bread to those in need every Monday.
Community Meals
- Amherst Survival Center — Offers both pantry support and community meals for all ages.
- Berkshire Food Project (North Adams) — Serving free weekday lunches year-round, the Berkshire Food Project also welcomes volunteers and holiday donations through its Holiday Wish List, helping ensure everyone has a warm meal and community connection this season. Thanksgiving and holiday community meals are offered.
- Community Supper – Berkshire South Regional Community Center (Great Barrington) — Free Monday suppers bring neighbors together to share food and connection. Meals are first come, first serve, with curbside take-out and in-person dining. All are welcome.
- Craig’s Doors (Amherst) — Provides shelter, meals, and hospitality for unhoused neighbors. A free community breakfast is served every Wednesday and open to the public.
- Feast of Plenty at Blossom Center (Middlefield) — A free community meal on November 27, 2025, offering good food, good company, and resource networking before winter. All are welcome. Volunteers may sign up to help or bring a dish, and ride sharing is available for those in need. Donations and local food contributions are also accepted to help ensure there’s plenty for everyone.
- Franklin County Community Meals Program (FCCMP) — Provides free community meals in Greenfield, Turners Falls, and Orange, along with a mobile food pantry and weekend meal programs. Volunteers help prepare, serve, and share meals that build connection across the county.
- Hilltown Friendsgiving Dinner (Huntington) — A free community dinner celebrating gratitude and togetherness in the Hilltowns. All are welcome on November 15, 2025. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited. Hosted by Pioneer Valley Assembly of God.
- The Holyoke Collective — Hosts community dinners that strengthen food access and neighborhood connection. Four times a year chef Neftalí Durán cooks up a community dinner. All are welcomed. Volunteer opportunities, too.
- Kate’s Kitchen (Holyoke) — Serves a free, nutritious lunch and dinner every weekday of the year to anyone in need. All are welcome, no questions asked, with volunteer opportunities available to help prepare and serve meals.
- MANNA Community Kitchen (Northampton) — Serves free, chef-prepared meals several times weekly; volunteers may help cook, serve, or clean up.
- Not Bread Alone (Amherst) — Serves free meals on weekends and Wednesdays and welcomes community volunteers. Holiday community meals on Thanksgiving and Easter are also served to people of all faiths.
- Open Pantry Community Services (Springfield) — Hosts a Holiday Meals Program serving free community meals on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter for anyone in need or wishing to share the holidays with others.
- Stone Soup Café (Greenfield) — Offers a monthly Pay-What-You-Can Community Soup Night, transforming a simple meal into a practice of care. Families and neighbors share soup made with local ingredients, turning a community meal into a way of learning about belonging and food security in Western Massachusetts.
Volunteer Opportunities Supporting Food Security in Western Massachusetts
- Berkshire Bounty — Offers volunteer opportunities for gleaning, collecting, and delivering produce to local pantries.
- Brick House Community (Greenfield) — Volunteers can help sort donations, assist with food distributions, and support local youth programs. They also have a food pantry open to anyone in need.
- Rachel’s Table of Western Massachusetts — Coordinates food rescue and gleaning programs across the region. They also have a Teen Board for self-directed teens interested in food justice and learning how to alleviate food insecurity.
- The Gray House Volunteer Program (Springfield) — Volunteers are needed for weekly sorting of donations and distributing meals, and preparing for the Thanksgiving Distribution.

Gleaning is the practice of harvesting surplus or unmarketed produce from local farms and redirecting it to food pantries and community programs rather than letting it go to waste.
- Berkshire Bounty — Coordinates countywide gleaning, rescuing fall fruit that would otherwise go to waste.
- Rachel’s Table of Western Massachusetts — Organizes gleaning and food-rescue efforts across the Pioneer Valley from July-November.
- The Holyoke Collective — Leads gleaning initiatives that redirect surplus farm produce to community tables.

- Forbes Library Food & Toiletries Drive (Northampton) — Supporting the Northampton Survival Center with canned goods, coffee, and full-sized toiletries such as shampoo and toothpaste.
- The Gray House Thanksgiving Food Drive (Springfield) — Accepting frozen turkeys, gravy packets, cranberry sauce, cake mix, pie crust, and stuffing or rice.
- Lenox Library Giving Tuesday Food Drive — Collecting food and personal care items for the Lenox Food Pantry.
- Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen & Pantry (Chicopee) — Collecting “holiday dinners in a bag” including canned veggies, potatoes, gravy, and dessert mixes.
