FILM STUDIES
What makes a movie good? How do you judge the quality of a film? There are a few factors to consider, including how much money the movie made at the box office, how film critics responded, and how general audience members responded. Ratings on websites such as IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes can tell you about the general opinion people hold of a film. The 1942 romantic drama Casablanca won academy awards for outstanding motion picture and screenplay, and frequently appears on lists of the top films of all time. The IMDB top 250 list, which is determined by user ratings, ranks Casablanca as number 33. Do you agree with critics that this is one of the greatest American films of any genre? Find out by watching Casablanca at Amherst Cinema. This is the first film in a series of films featuring three-time Academy Award-winner Ingrid Bergman. 413- 253-2547. 28 Amity Street. Amherst, MA. Sessions will take place on June 8, 15, 22 ,and 29. Childcare will be available during the workshop.
