11 Highlights for Father’s Day in Western MA

Calling All Sports Fans, History Buffs, Aviators, Foodies & Music Lovers!

On Sunday, dads and grandfathers with younger kids can enjoy a free train ride and round of mini golf at Look Park or take a free trolley ride at the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum. Other locations honoring dads and granddads on Father’s Day include Historic Deerfield which offers free admission, or a free ride on the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round.

SPORTS FAN

Few events have the old time, hometown feel of a community baseball game! Don’t miss the 2nd annual Ashfield Baseball and Softball Jamboree  and old timers game on Sunday, June 21, 10:30am, which honors the long tradition of playing these sports in Ashfield. Fathers and grandfathers receive free admission to Historic Deerfield on Sunday, June 21, 9:30am – 4:30pm! What a wonderful opportunity to explore 18th century life in New England. AVIATORS

Imagine sitting in the cockpit of a Coast Guard Falcon (a retired search and rescue plane) or a Lockheed Starfighter (a supersonic interceptor plane). The New England Air Museum invites visitors to join them at this special Open Cockpit day on Sunday, June 21, 10am – 5pm where they can examine aircraft cockpits and control panels, experience a flight simulator, and see an original aviation-inspired play. The Annual Taste of Amherst festival runs from June 18-21 on the Amherst Town Common. Come try some of the Valley’s best food from restaurants, stores, stands, and more, and enjoy live entertainment, kids’ activities, games, and food demonstrations. MUSIC LOVER

Enjoy a concert featuring local jazz musicians the Bad News Jazz & Blues Orchestra and the Broken Cello Orchestra, hosted by the First Congregational Church of Montague on the Montague Center Common on Sunday, June 21, 2pm – 6pm. An additional delight will be provided in the form of strawberry shortcake, a dessert that highlights the juicy berry crops that abound in our area in the month of June.
