Easter Events in Western MA 2015

During Easter many towns host egg hunts for their residents. Check our list of Easter events for an egg hunt nearest you, along with Easter craft opportunities, brunch and Easter Bunny appearances.

Community events that celebrate Easter take place over the next few week.

Saturday, March 28th

In Easthampton at 10am, the Easthampton Community Center‘s annual Egg Hunt takes place March 28 in the City Hall parking lot. Come have fun searching for Easter eggs – there are 18,000 this year! 413-527-5240. 50 Payson Avenue. [Postponed to April 4]

In Lenox at 10am & 1pm, learn the traditional Eastern European craft of Slavic Easter Egg Decorating at Ventfort Hall. This annual demonstration and workshop teaches you the history and basics of this time-honored craft. For ages 12 and up. Please pre-register. 413-637-3206. 104 Walker Street.  ($$$)

In Great Barrington from 10am-11:30am, kids ages 6 and under can participate in an Egg Hunt at Berkshire South Regional Community Center. There will be three hunts for each different age group – age 2 and under (10am), ages 3 and 4 (10:30am), and ages 5 and 6 (11am). In Palmer from 10am-1pm, learn how to make Ukrainian Easter eggs, or “pysanky,” at the Yellow House this March. The eggs are decorated with beeswax and dye and are given as gifts during the Easter holiday. Celebrate Easter and learn a new craft – make an egg to gift to a friend or family member at this hands-on workshop. Please register in advance. 413-289-6091. 1479 North Main Street.  ($$$)

In Whately from 12noon-2pm, learn about “pysanky,” or Ukrainian Easter eggs, at the S. White Dickinson Memorial Library with local art teacher Marion Abrams. Abrams will teach kids and families ages 8 and up about pysanky and thow to paint these beautifully decorated eggs using beeswax and dyes. In South Amherst from 12noon-3pm, Atkins Farms’ annual Easter Egg and Candy Hunt is on March 28. This event is for kids ages 12 and under, and participants will be split into age groups. Bring your own basket and a camera for photos with the Easter Bunny! 413-253-9528. 1150 West St.

Sunday, March 29th

In Holyoke from 9am-11:30am, join the Children’s Museum at Holyoke for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Enjoy a continental breakfast with family and the Easter Bunny, fun arts and crafts, a raffle, and all-day admission to the Museum. Pre-registration is recommended. 413-536-5437. 444 Dwight Street.

In Southwick at 1pm, children ages 10 and under can participate in Southwick’s Easter Egg Hunt in Prifti Park. There will be other Easter festivities for all ages to enjoy. Bring your own basket.

Monday, March 30th

In Palmer from 5:30pm-8:30pm, learn how to make Ukrainian Easter eggs, or “pysanky,” at the Yellow House this March. Thursday, April 2nd

In Great Barrington from 10:30am-11:15am, there will be a Treasure Egg Hunt for ages 3-5 at the Mason Library! Children can decorate their own bags and search for eggs with prizes inside. Whoever finds the golden egg wins an extra special prize! Please register in advance. 413-528-2403. 231 Main Street.

Friday, April 3rd

In Otis, to day is the registration deadline for the Easter Egg Hunt and Games event which takes place at Otis Town Hall on April 18 at 10am. In Heath from10:30am-11:30am, join the Heath Free Public Library for a very special storytime – Egg Hunt! The storytime will have stories about Easter. 413-337-4934 x7. 1 East Main Street.

In Windsor Locks, CT from 11am-3pm, have some Easter fun at the New England Air Museum’s Easter Egg Hunt on April 3! Kids ages 10 and under can come hunt for eggs (11am-11:30am) and take photos with the Easter Bunny (11am-3pm) at this fun events. Bring your own basket. 860-623-3305. 36 Perimeter Road.

Saturday, April 4th

In Great Barrington, there will an Easter Egg Hunt at Ski Butternut on April! Come to the mountain and search for 30 plastic eggs – if you find one, bring it to the office and claim a prize! 413-528-2000. 380 State Road.

In Erving from 9am-11am, the Erving Recreation Commission is hosting a Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny! Come to the Erving Community and Senior Center for delicious breakfast foods and Easter fun! Donations will be accepted for Badge and the Erving K-9 Unit. 413-422-2800 x105. 1 Care Drive.

In Florence at 9:30am & 11am, families can head to Look Park for their annual Easter Bunny Breakfast on April 4, with food by Seth Mias Catering. Kids can meet the Easter Bunny and have a nice meal with family. Reservations are suggested. 413-584-5457. 300 North Main Street. ($)

In West Springfield at 9:45am, West Springfield kids ages 7 and under are invited to Mittineague Park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Meet the Easter Bunny and get a special treat (9:45am-10:30am) and then hunt for Easter eggs (10:30am). This year, there will be over 7,000 eggs! Children will be split into color-coded age groups. The Park is very wet, so dress appropriately. 413-781-3020. 1695 Westfield Street.

In Easthampton at 10am, the Easthampton Community Center‘s annual Egg Hunt takes (rescheduled from March 28) happens in the City Hall parking lot. Come have fun searching for Easter eggs – there are 18,000 this year! 413-527-5240. 50 Payson Avenue.

In Greenfield at 10am, WHAI/Bear Country Easter Egg Hunt at Greenfield Community College happens for the second year in a row!  Kids 5 and under get their own field and step off at 10am sharp.  Kids 6-12 head into their field at 10:15.  Young adults older than 12 can sign up for great raffle prizes.   A wide variety of prizes (plus candy) from participating sponsors will be in thousands of eggs.  413-774-4301. 1 College Dr. Greenfield, MA. In Holyoke from 10am-12noon , families can come to Heritage State Park for a fun Spring Celebration and Easter Egg Hunt, hosted by the Holyoke Parks and Recreation Department! There will be crafts, pony rides, face painting, prizes, gift bags, and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny. Children will be split up into age groups for the egg hunt – toddlers at 10am, ages 6 and under at 10:30am, ages 7-9 at 11am, and ages 10-12 at 11:30am. 413-322-5620. 221 Appleton Street. (>$)

In Springfield from 10am-1pm, the Zoo in Forest Park is hosting an Easter Eggstravaganza to celebrate Easter and the Zoo’s opening day! Meet live animals and collect Easter candy. 413-733-2251. 302 Sumner Ave.  (>$)

In Whately at 10:30am, the S. White Dickinson Memorial Library is holding a special Tales and Tunes for Easter! Come to this “Eggstravaganza” for stories, puppets, music, crafts, and an egg hunt. Call to RSVP. 413-665-2170. 202 Chestnut Plain Road. (FREE)

In Hadley from 10:30am-12noon, the Hadley Park and Recreation Department is holding their Annual Easter Party at Hadley Elementary School. There will be a chance to get pictures with the Easter Bunny, do crafts, and participate in other fun activities, like an Easter egg hunt. Please bring your own basket. In Pittsfield from 10:30am-12noon, celebrate Easter at Pittsfield’s Easter Egg Scramble! Pittsfield kids ages 2-9 can bring their own baskets and have fun hunting for eggs, hanging out with friends and family, and meeting the Easter Bunny! Takes place at Morningside Community School. 100 Burbank Street. (FREE)

In Worthington at 11am, the Hilltown Easter Egg Hunt will take place at  R.H. Conwell Elementary School.  BYO baskets and join other Hilltown kids, rain or shine!  All are welcomed. 413-238-5500. 147 Huntington Road. Worthington, MA (FREE)

In South Hadley at 11am, come to Buttery Brook Park for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Hat Parade. Get creative and make your own funky Easter hat, then wear it to the parade (11am) and maybe even win a prize! The Easter egg hunt follows the parade (11:30am). In Ludlow at 11am, kids of all ages are invited to the Hubbard Memorial Library’s 16th Annual Egg Hunt! Kids will search the grounds for eggs and prizes. Please bring your own basket. 413-583-3408 x3. 24 Center Street. (FREE)

In Belchertown at 11am, the Belchertown Recreation Department is holding an Easter Egg Hunt at the Rec Center on April 4! This event is for ages 10 and under, and space is limited, so please register in advance. 413-323-0419. 66 State Street.(>$)

In Stockbridge at 11am, join the Stockbridge Library for a special storytime and Easter Egg Hunt. Have fun searching for eggs and hearing an Easter story. 413-298-5501. 46 Main Street. (FREE)

In Lenox at 11am, the Lenox Community Center will host an Easter Egg Scramble in Lilac Park. Arrive early to line up, and bring your own Easter basket. The Easter Bunny will be there too, so bring your cameras! If it is raining, the Easter Egg Hunt will be held in Lenox Community Center. 413-637-5530. Lilac Park. Main Street. (FREE)

The event is split up for different age groups – 2 and under (1pm), ages 3 and 4 (1:15pm), ages 5 and 6 (1:30pm), ages 7 and 8 (1:45pm), and ages 9 and 10 (2pm). Sunday, April 5th

In South Deerfield from 10am-4pm, celebrate Easter at Chandler’s Restaurant at a fun and delicious Easter brunch buffet. The buffet includes traditional breakfast foods, carving stations, sweets, and a smoothie bar. Make reservations in advance and enjoy this fun Easter meal with your family! 413-665-1277. 25 Greenfield Road. ($$-$$$)

In Holyoke from 11am-2pm, Holyoke’s annual Easter Drag, a longstanding Easter tradition, brings families and friends together to celebrate Easter and welcome in the spring season. This Easter tradition gathers families on Northampton Street to “walk the drag” on both sides of the street from the Yankee Pedlar to Nick’s Nest and Fire Station #3. The Holyoke Merry-Go-Round will be open from 12noon-3pm, and the Easter Bunny will give out candy, pose for pictures and take rides with children. Northampton St. (FREE)

In Florence from 1pm-2pm, head to Look Memorial Park for the EGGstravaganza Egg Hunt, which features over 10,000 eggs that contain either candy or a small toy. Saturday, April 18th

In Turners Falls at 1pm, the 10th Annual Peter Cottontail’s EGGstravaganza takes place on April 18 at Unity Park. Kids ages 4-12 can come get their pictures taken with Peter Cottontail, enter raffles, and participate in the egg hunt. This year there will be approximately 5,000 eggs, all filled with candy or toys! Please bring your own basket. 413-863-3216. First Street.

In Cheshire at 11am & 3pm, Whitney’s Farm Market hosts their annual Easter egg hunt.  11am: ages 5 and under. 3pm: ages 6 and up. BYO basket! 413-442-4749. 1775 South State Rd. (FREE)
