Easter Events in Western MA 2014

During Easter many towns host egg hunts for their residents. Check our list of Easter events for an egg hunt nearest you, along with Easter craft opportunities, brunch and Easter Bunny appearances.

Community events that celebrate Easter take place through April 20th. We’ll be adding to this list as events come in, so be sure to check back:

Saturday, April 5th

In Easthampton from 10am-12noon, the Easthampton Community Center has a great volunteer opportunity – stuffing eggs for the annual Easter egg hunt! There are 18,000 eggs to stuff with about 600 pounds of candy in time for the April 12th egg hunt. Come to the Center to help out. 413-527-5240. 12 Clark Street. Easthampton, MA.

In Granby, bring some hardboiled eggs to the Granby Free Public Library for Easter egg coloring and decorating. This is a fun way to celebrate Easter and get creative with a hands-on activity. 413-467-3320. 297 East State Street. Granby, MA.

In Housatonic from 10:30am-11:30am, come make fun paper collage eggs at the Ramsdell Library! Take your creation home to use as a decoration. 413-274-3738. 1087 Main Street. Housatonic, MA.

In Ludlow, April 5 is the last day to register for the Ludlow Community Center’s Eggcellent Easter Egg Hunt, which takes place on Sunday, April 13 at 12noon. Get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny (12noon-1pm) and then participate in the egg hunt (1pm). Please bring your own basket. 413-583-2072. 91 Claudia’s Way.  >$

Sunday, April 6th

In Holyoke from 9am-12noon, join the Children’s Museum at Holyoke for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Enjoy a continental breakfast with family and the Easter Bunny, goodie bags, fun arts and crafts, a raffle, and all day admission to the Museum. In Southwick from 1pm-2p, children ages 10 and under can participate in Southwick’s Easter Egg Hunt in Prifti Park. There will be other Easter festivities for all ages to enjoy. Southwick, MA.

Saturday, April 12th

In Easthampton from 8-11am, enjoy breakfast with the Easter Bunny at the Easthampton High School. Bring your camera and take your kids picture with the Easter Bunny. There will be fun for the whole family.  70 Wiliston Ave. (>$)

In Easthampton, the Easthampton Community Center‘s annual Egg Hunt takes place today. Come have fun searching for Easter eggs – there are 18,000 this year! 413-527-5240.

In Great Barrington from 10am-11:30am, kids ages 6 and under can participate in an egg hunt at Berkshire South Regional Community Center. There will be three hunts for each different age group – age 2 and under (10am), ages 3 and 4 (10:30am), and ages 5 and 6 (11am). In Hadley from 10:30am-12noon, the Hadley Park and Recreation Department is holding their Annual Easter Party at Hadley Elementary School. There will be a chance to get pictures with the Easter Bunny, do crafts, and participate in other fun activities, like an Easter egg hunt. Please bring your own basket. In Holyoke from 9:30am-11am , kids can have fun looking for hidden eggs at the Holyoke Canoe Club‘s Easter Egg Hunt! 413-532-2830. Old Ferry Road.  >$

In Lenox from 10am-12noon & 1pm-3pm, learn the traditional Eastern European craft of Slavic Easter Egg Decorating at Ventfort Hall. This annual demonstration and workshop teaches you the history and basics of this time-honored craft. For ages 12 and up. Please pre-register. 413-637-3206. 104 Walker Street. $$$

In South Amherst from 12noon-3pm, the annual Easter Egg Hunt with the Easter Bunny happens at Atkins Farms Country Market. 1150 West St.  (FREE)

In Wendell from 9:30am-11:30am, come to Diemand Farm for their annual Easter Egg Hunt! This fun event features egg coloring, crafts, an egg hunt, and a chance to meet some adorable baby animals, including rabbits, goats, lambs, and emus. 978-544-3806. 126 Mormon Hollow Road.

In Whately from 12noon-2pm, learn about “pysanky,” or Ukrainian Easter eggs, and the S. White Dickinson Memorial Library with local art teacher Marion Abrams. Abrams will teach kids and families ages 7 and up about pysanky and teach how to paint these beautifully decorated eggs. Please register in advance. 413-665-2170. 202 Chestnut Plain Road.

In Wilbraham from 11am-12noon, the Wilbraham Children’s Museum hosts their annual Egg Hunt. Children 5 and under can come search the Museum’s backyard for 1,400 eggs! Sunday, April 13th

In Hadley from 9-11am, Hampshire Mall will host Bunny Cares, allowing children with special needs to be welcomed into an environment designed to support them.  Bunny Cares is an opportunity for children with special needs and their families to enjoy a photo session with the Easter Bunny. Extra care has been taken to support the sensory, physical and other developmental needs of children so they can enjoy this wonderful holiday tradition. 367 Russell St.

In Ludlow  at 12noon, Ludlow Community Center’s Eggcellent Easter Egg Hunt takes place. Get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny (12noon-1pm) and then participate in the egg hunt (1pm). Please bring your own basket. 413-583-2072. 91 Claudia’s Way.  >$

Friday, April 18th

In Greenfield from 3-5pm, the Easter Bunny will be at Wilson’s Department Store.  Skip the mall and get your kids picture taken at a locally owned department store located on Main Street in Greenfield.  Wilson’s Department Store has been a fixture in downtown Greenfield for over 125 years. If you’re looking for a photo op with the Easter Bunny to send to grandparents and distant relatives, stop in on Friday or Saturday. 413-774-4326. 258 Main Street. Greenfield, MA

In Heath from 10:30am-11:30am, join the Heath Free Public Library for a very special storytime – Egg Hunt! with guests Jessica Van Steensburg and her farm birds. She will share her original story, Dorris Byrd. This fun storytime will teach preschoolers about birds! 413-337-4934 x7. 1 East Main Street.

In Springfield from 10:30am-4pm, the Springfield Museums hosts Spring Into Easter. The Easter Bunny will be visiting, so bring your cameras. Special programs and performances happen all day, including live animal demos, puppet show, art activities, science adventures and more. 21 Edwards St.

Saturday, April 19th

In Belchertown at 11am, the Belchertown Recreation Department is holding an Easter Egg Hunt at the Rec Center on April 19! This event is for ages 10 and under, and space is limited, so please register in advance. 413-323-0419. 66 State Street. >$

In Cheshire at 11am & 3pm, Whitney’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Ages 5 & under at 11am. Ages 6 and up at 3pm. BYO baskets. Whitney’s Farm Market. 413-442-4749. 1775 South State Road (Route 8).

In Dalton, kids in grade 5 and below are welcome to participate in the Dalton CRA‘s annual Easter egg hunt! Come to the CRA Memorial Lawn (or the CRA gym if it’s rainy) and enjoy candy, Easter eggs, and a chance to meet the Easter bunny. 413-684-0260. 400 Main Street.

In Erving from 9am-11am, the Erving Recreation Commission is hosting a Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny! Come to the Erving Community and Senior Center for delicious breakfast foods and Easter fun! Donations will be accepted for Badge and the Erving K-9 Unit. 413-422-2800 x105. 1 Care Drive.

In Florence at 9:30am & 11am, hop on over to Look Park for their Easter Bunny Breakfast, with food by Seth Mias Catering. Kids can meet the Easter Bunny and have a nice meal with family. Reservations are suggested. 413-584-5457. 300 North Main Street. $

In Florence from 12:30pm-2pm, head to Look Memorial Park for the EGGstravaganza Egg Hunt, which features over 10,000 eggs that contain either candy or a small toy. There will be two special eggs that contain “golden tickets,” which can be redeemed for prizes. The event is split up for different age groups – 2 and under (1pm), ages 3 and 4 (1:15pm), ages 5 and 6 (1:30pm), ages 7 and 8 (1:45pm), and ages 9 and 10 (2pm). In Greenfield at 10am, 98.3 FM WHAI is holding an Easter Egg Hunt at the Country Club of Greenfield on April 19! Kids ages 5 and under can have fun searching for eggs at 10am, then kids 6-12 can egg hunt at 10:15am, followed by a raffle for kids 12 and over. The eggs contain prizes and you can meet the Easter Bunny at 10:30am! 244 Country Club Road.

In Ludlow at 11am, kids of all ages are invited to the Hubbard Memorial Library’s 15th Annual Egg Hunt! Kids will search the grounds for eggs and prizes. Please bring your own basket. Rain date: Saturday, April 26. 413-583-3408 x3. 24 Center Street.  (FREE)

In Pittsfield, celebrate Easter at Pittsfield’s Easter Egg Scramble! Pittsfield kids ages 2-9 can bring their own baskets and have fun hunting for eggs, hanging out with friends and family, and meeting the Easter Bunny! Takes place at Morningside Community School. 100 Burbank Street.

In South Hadley at 11am, come to Buttery Brook Park for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Hat Parade. Get creative and make your own funky Easter hat, then wear it to the parade (11am) and maybe even win a prize! The Easter egg hunt follows the parade (11:30am). In Stockbridge at 11am, join the Stockbridge Library for a special storytime and Easter Egg Hunt. Have fun searching for eggs and hearing an Easter story. 413-298-5501. 46 Main Street.

In Stockbridge from 10am-12noon, join the Trustees of Reservations for egg decorating¸ a scavenger hunt/garden adventure¸ and an Easter egg roll on Oak Lawn at Naumkeag. In Springfield from 11am-1pm, The Zoo in Forest Park & Education Center hosts a Spring “Egg”stravananza. Collect eggs along the “bunny trail.” Meet live animals that all come from eggs, and bring your camera for a photo with the Easter Bunny. 413-733-2251. 302 Sumner Ave.

In Turners Falls at 1pm, the 9th Annual Peter Cottontail’s EGGstravaganza happens at Sheffield Elementary School’s back fields. Kids ages 4-12 can come get their pictures taken with Peter Cottontail, enter raffles, and participate in the egg hunt. This year there will be approximately 5,000 eggs, all filled with candy or toys! Please bring your own basket. 413-863-3216.

In West Springfield at 9:45am, West Springfield kids ages 7 and under are invited to Mittineague Park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Meet the Easter Bunny and get a special treat (9:45am-10:30am) and then hunt for Easter eggs (10:30am). This year, there will be over 7,000 eggs! Children will be split into color-coded age groups. The Park is very wet, so dress appropriately. 413-781-3020. 1695 Westfield Street.

In Wilbraham from 10am-11:30am, the Wilbraham Parks and Recreation Department‘s annual Easter Egg Hunt takes place on April 19 at Spec Pond! Kids from toddler to age 10 are invited come search for eggs, meet the Easter Bunny, win prizes, play games, get their faces painted, and more. There will also be an Easter basket contest, so decorate your own and bring it to the Egg Hunt! Pre-registration is required. 413-596-2800. 2540 Boston Road. >$

In Worthington from 9:30am-2pm, Worthington Easter Egg hunt and spring festival takes place at RH Conwell CEC School. Everyone is welcome to an egg hunt at 11am (BYO basket) and spring events at the library and school. 413-238-5500.  147 Huntington Road. (FREE)

Sunday, April 20th

In Holyoke from 11am-2pm, Holyoke’s annual Easter Drag, a longstanding Easter tradition, brings families and friends together to celebrate Easter and welcome in the spring season.  This Easter tradition gathers families on Northampton Street to “walk the drag” on both sides of the street from the Yankee Pedlar to Nick’s Nest and Fire Station #3.  Along the route, children will be greeted by fire trucks, vintage cars and the Easter Bunny. Holyoke Merry-Go-Round will be open from 12noon-3pm, and the Easter Bunny will give out candy, pose for pictures and take rides with children. Northampton St. (FREE)

In South Deerfield from 10am-4pm, celebrate Easter at Chandler’s Restaurant at a fun and delicious Easter brunch buffet. The buffet includes traditional breakfast foods, carving stations, sweets, and a smoothie bar.
