ABOUT THE MARDI GRAS BALL
Headlining the Saturday, February 16th Grown Ups Mardi Gras Ball at Ashfield Town Hall (412 Main Street, Ashfield, MA) at 8pm, will be multi-Grammy nominee Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys. This is the ball for grown-ups who want to dress up and get down as the band works its magic with a hot two-step, then turns on a dime and deliver an a cappella ballad, followed by something that sounds like Howlin’ Wolf fell in lust with a Creole girl. Costumes and masks are welcome! After the concert, revelers can head next door to Elmer’s Store where The Primate Fiasco After Party will keep you dancing.
ABOUT STEVE RILEY & THE MAMOU PLAYBOYS
Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys will be rolling out their brand new songs in the Hilltowns of Western MA in Ashfield, just before heading into the studio to record their 14th CD. And they will have just returned from the Grammy Awards on February 10th, where their last recording, “Grand Isle,” is nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Regional Roots Music Album” category. Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys began over twenty years ago with a reputation for excellence. Their stunningly clean and cohesive performance of Cajun French music from the backwaters of Southwest Louisiana propelled them into the world music limelight early on, and by their third release, Trace of Time, had garnered them a Grammy nomination in the worldwide field of traditional folk music, another in 2004 for Bon Reve, in 2009 for Live at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and again in 2011 for their latest release, Grand Isle.

A night out for free?
I love readying,chatting and sharing the things to do hilltown posts. When my kids where little we didn’t have access to such information. I find being older I have knowledge to share about our area, resources I’ve gathered over the years being a single mom if three kids and I still find activities on here for my grown kids and their kids too !

hilltown families is a wonderful resource for our community(s). it allows for communication and information sharing between folks born here and folks who just moved here last month. this is very important as it helps us all look for what we have in common with each other and not just what we disagree about. through this exchange I believe we find out that we all have alot more in common than not.
Hilltown families has been a great resource over the years to plan school vacations, long weekends etc. If you want know what is going on the hilltowns and valley, Hilltown families is the place look!
Hilltown is a wonderful resource for us tucked away in the hills. Gets us out to events we’d never hear about otherwise and offers a lovely forum for chatting about all manner of familial adventures.
