Franklin Land Trust Fall Festival
Guyette Farm in Plainfield, MA
Saturday, October 20th from 12noon-7pm
The Franklin Land Trust will offer a day of activities for all ages at the historic Guyette Farm in Plainfield. On Saturday, October 20, from 12noon-7pm, community members can enjoy guided walks, a scavenger hunt, pumpkin painting, a farm petting zoo, hayrides and an evening bonfire.
Members of the Student Conservation Corps will also lead nature games and activities for kids. Volunteers from Hilltown Families will be at the festival to answer questions and explain how the community can plug into and support the network. Admission and activities are free. Food will available for purchase, or bring your own picnic.
Hayman creator and Plainfield artist Michael Melle will also offer a Scarecrow-Making Workshop from 12noon-4pm. Melle is famous for his lifelike and playful hay and stick sculptures. Materials will be provided and families and groups are welcome to form a single team and create a scarecrow together. Details provided with registration. This event is part of the Franklin Land Trust 25th anniversary celebration. FLT is a non-profit organization that works with landowners and communities to protect the farms, forests, and other natural resources significant to the environmental quality, economy and rural character of the region. Founded in 1987, they are celebrating 25 years and 25,000 acres of conserved land in our region. The Fall Festival is co-sponsored by Hilltown Families and funded in part by the Ashfield, Cummington and Plainfield Cultural Councils and Franklin Fund of the Community Foundation of Western MA.
