Al Fresco Theatre in the Berkshires

WTF Free Theatre Production
Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors

Enjoy Shakespeare with Williamstown Theatre Festival at Poker Flats Field in Williamstown, MA (FREE)

Families can check out the Williamstown Theatre Festival this summer as their signature Free Theatre returns to Poker Flats Field  (45 Stetson Rd.) with William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors. Outdoor performances begin at 7pm on July 13th and continue through July 22nd.  This Free Theatre production takes place in an open air Farmers’ Market and families are invited to BYO picnic to enjoy an evening of al fresco theatre in the Berkshires.

In The Comedy of Errors, two sets of identical twin boys, the Antipholiand their servants the Dromios, are separated by a shipwreck and raised in different cities. Years later, Antipholus of Syracuse, his father Egeon, and his servant, Dromio of Syracuse, arrive in Ephesus. There, unbeknownst to him, his long-lost brother and Egeon’s long-lost son Antipholus of Ephesus now lives as one of the wealthiest merchants in town with his servant, Dromio of Ephesus. Mistaken identities abound in Johanna McKeon’s contemporary take on Shakespeare’s classic comedy.

  1. Are you thinking of taking the family to the Williamstown Theatre Festival this summer to see their free outdoor performances of “The Comedy of Errors?” Check out No Fear Shakespeare online with the kids. It translates Shakespeare’s language into modern English—the kind of English people actually speak today:
