Smithsonian Magazine’s 6th Annual Museum Day

Mark your calendars: Smithsonian magazine’s sixth annual Museum Day is this Saturday, September 25th, 2010. Participating museums and cultural institutions nationwide will open their doors free of charge to all visitors who download the Museum Day Ticket from Smithsonian.com.

Download your ticket and then head to one of the eight locations in Western MA to explore with the family … for free!

Whether you redeem your Museum Day Ticket at a venue in your own backyard or you take a trip to explore a new site, this is your pass for a free journey to celebrate culture, learning and knowledge!

The Museum Day Ticket is available to download at www.smithsonian.com/museumday. Visitors who present the official pass will gain free admission for two people to participating museums and cultural venues. One ticket is permitted per household, per email address.  Listings and links to participating museums’ through out Massachusetts can be found at www.smithsonian.com/museumday

Following dinner by Lakota Bar-B-Q, enjoy a concert by The Electric Trains and a round-trip train ride from Lenox to Stockbridge. Dessert and coffee to be served in Stockbridge while The Electric Trains continue to perform for you! Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance to assure your dinner reservation and your spot for this great event. All purchases are final, no refunds will be permitted due to the nature of this event. A fun event for the whole family! Festivities start at 4:30pm and will end by 8:30pm.

The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art will join more than 1,300 museums nationwide on Saturday, September 25th and offer free admission to celebrate the sixth annual Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day. The event, according to Smithsonian Affliations’ website, celebrates “the country’s cultural offerings, allows the dissemination of knowledge and brings Americans together.” *Guests must print an official ticket off the Smithsonian’s website before visiting their local museum. The ticket allows two guests free admission.
