Strategic Planning Initiative for Families and Youth (SPIFFY) announces two FREE Bullying Prevention workshops, both at the Hampshire Educational Collaborative in Northampton:

BULLYING PREVENTION
Thursday, April 8th, 2010 from 10:00am-1:00pm
Presenter: Anne Gilligan, Statewide Coordinator, Safe and Drug Free Schools
This program includes a pizza lunch with your RSVP.
Learn about the pending Massachusetts Anti-Bullying legislation and implications for local schools and communities. Find out about best practices for anti-bullying policies, procedures and reporting protocols. Discuss the role of parents and the larger community in creating a culture where bullying is unacceptable.

CYBER-BULLYING
Tuesday, May 25th, 2010 from 10:00am-12:00pm OR 3:00-5:00pm
Presenter: Cindy Boyle, Director of Community Education and Outreach, NW District Attorney’s Office
Find out the latest trends in technology among youth and teens, and how today’s youth utilize technology to engage in what is called “cyber-bullying.” Learn strategies aimed at decreasing the frequency and intensity.

The April 8th Bullying Prevention Session is full. We have added another Bullying Prevention Session on Friday, May 7th from 10am – 12:00 noon so that we can accommodate everyone who is interested in this important and timely topic. Please RSVP as soon as possible for the May 7th session. Also, if you are registered for the April 8th session and would prefer to attend the May 7th session just let me know.

There is still space in both the cyber-bullying sessions.
