Parents Surveyed on Hilltown Elementary School Closings

The Elementary Advisory Committee has announced that parents of school-aged children are being surveyed for input on the possible closing of some elementary schools in the Gateway Regional School District for the 2010-11 school year.

Elementary school parent surveys were sent home in student red folders on Friday, October 2. Parents may return completed surveys using the red folder system in place at all Gateway elementary schools.

Surveys will be mailed to the parents of elementary students who have school-choiced out to other area public schools.

A telephone survey will take place with parents of Gateway students in grades 5 – 12. Using the district’s auto-dialer, several attempts will be made to contact parents in mid-October. The survey will take less than 5 minutes to complete, with parents answering questions by pressing 1 for “yes”, 2 for “no”, 3 for “I don’t know”. Parents can also press the star key (*) to hear the question again.

The EAC will present results of parent surveys, along with other findings, to the Gateway Regional School Committee on November 18.

The Gateway Regional School Committee is scheduled to vote on the issue of closing some elementary schools at their December 9, 2009 meeting.
