New Computer Laptops Offered Hilltown Students & Community

Gateway Regional School District Offers New Round of Laptops for Students and Community

The Gateway Regional School District is offering its students, parents, staff and community members the opportunity to lease or purchase a new industry standard Apple laptop.

This highly popular program has been offered in the past by the school district, through Mass 1to1—a non-profit organization that leases and maintains laptop computers throughout the state.

Students in grades 5 – 12 are eligible to lease a laptop. At the end of the three-year lease, families may purchase the computer for $1.

Packets that include Program Registration Forms and Computer Lease Agreements will be available at the Gateway Open House in Huntington, MA on Thursday, October 8 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
An informational meeting will also be held on that evening at 7:35 p.m. in the Gateway Performing Arts Center, to provide more information and answer questions.

A case will be included with the purchase or lease of a laptop. This case has been specifically selected for its quality, size and the superior protection that it will give the laptop. MASS 1to1 will carry insurance for each leased laptop, however there is a $100 deductible per incident for repairs. Students and families purchasing their laptops outright may obtain an accidental insurance policy for their machine for an additional cost.

Laptops will be distributed in late October or early November. You must attend one of the orientation sessions to pick up your laptop, which includes training, lease and warranty information, basic features and functions, and getting connected to the GRSD network.

Paperwork must be completed and returned by October 15. Questions may be directed to Angela Burke, Technology Director (685-1020 or aburke@grsd.org ).
