BULLETIN BOARD
- OZ COSTUMES SOUGHT: The Drama Club at R. H. Conwell Elementary School is looking for costumes for The Wizard of Oz. Ideas and old Halloween costumes are needed. Put your name somewhere on the costume and they will be given back to you after the production.
- GOOD NEWS FOR YOUTH SUMMER JOBS: Due to the economic stimulus package, unprecedented amounts of state money are available for Summer Youth Employment. All students ages 14 – 24 looking for summer jobs can apply to the program, run through the Franklin-Hampshire Career Center. Applications are available in the high school Guidance Office. All students (regardless of income level) are encouraged to apply.
FEATURED EVENTS

SATURDAY: The hilltowns are buzzing about the 3rd annual Hilltown Spring Festival. This year’s Festival will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2009, from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm at the Cummington Fairgrounds. The Festival features great local food from Hilltown eateries, live music and entertainment by professional and student performers, and children’s entertainment. The Festival will include a Hilltown Business Expo, an Art and Craft Exposition and a Focus on Sustainability featuring environmental education and renewable energy displays. Tune in to the Hilltown Family Variety Show on Saturdays from 9-10am on Valley Free Radio (VFR), 103.3FM (Northampton, MA), or listen via streaming audio at www.ValleyFreeRadio.org. Every Saturday VFR offers four hours of commercial-free, quality family program from 6-10am, including Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child from 7am-9am. It’s better than Saturday morning cartoons!

- MUSEUM ADVENTURES: Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, MA is offering free admission throughout the month of May. (Free)
- 10am-2pm – NATURE: Great Falls Discovery Center family fishing day at Turner Falls, MA. This fun-filled family event includes the opportunity for visiting a fish ladder used by anadromous (migrating) fish, tying your own fly, fly-line and spin-casting practice as well as dropping a line in the Connecticut River at Barton Cove.
- 10am-6pm – FESTIVAL: Cultural Survival Bazaar on the Amherst Common in Amherst, MA. (Free)
- Noon-4pm – MUSEUM ADVENTURES: At the Historic Deerfield Museum in Deerfield, MA discover cloth quilts from history and make a mini-quilt to take home. (Check out a free museum pass from your local library)
1:30pm – CONCERT: Kids show with Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem at the Hilltown Spring Festival in Cummington, MA at the Cummington Fairgrounds. (Concert is Free. $ for parking)
- 2pm – DANCE: Terpsichore and Friends perform at the Northampton Center for the Arts in Northampton, MA.

4-7pm – NATURE: Seed Festival at 400 Adamsville Road in Colrain, MA. Celebrate spring renewal, exchange seeds and plant almost-extinct heritage wheats. Bring a local organic potluck dish. Study circle on ancient food and seed systems and modern challenges. 624-0214 (Potluck)
6pm – CONCERT: The Peace Travelers from Mountain View Educational Collaborative will be performing at Elmer’s in Ashfield, MA, featuring a multi cultural concert with peace oriented songs, ASL, poems, puppets and around-the-world art work. (Fundraiser)
7pm – THEATER: Alice in Wonderland at the Gatweay Performing Arts Center in Huntington, MA.
7:30-pm – THEATER: Ashfield Community Theater presents “The Voysey Inheritance” at the Ashfield Town Hall in Ashfield, MA.
- 7:30-10pm – INTERGENERATIONAL DANCE: The Northampton Senior Center will host a dance for all ages in Northampton, MA. Dance or listen to fine music. Light refreshments will be served. For information, call 587-1228. All proceeds benefit the Senior Center.
