HILLTOWN FAMILY VARIETY SHOW

This Saturday from 9-10am, Randy Kaplan co-hosts this weeks episode of the Hilltown Family Variety Show.  Featuring music live in studio, a world premiere and great music by Bob Dylan, Billy Jones, Groucho Marx, Truckstop Honeymoon, and more.  Tune in live to 103.3FM (Northampton, MA) or on line via streaming audio at www.valleyfreeradio.org.

Tanglewood Marionettes

Catch the Tanglewood Marionettes at the Cummington Community House in Cummington, MA, for a free family performance this Saturday (01/03/09) Sunday (01/04/09) at 3pm.  Featuring over twenty beautifully hand-crafted marionettes, The Fairy Circus is a showcase for turn-of-the-century-style trick puppetry. The puppets will dance, play instruments, juggle, contort, transform, and fly through the air with the greatest of ease, all to the best-loved music of favorite composers!  Recommended for all ages.  Sponsored by the Cummington Family Center.

  1. Join the Tracking Club! We hope you and your family will be joining us. Here is some information about the program. The Tracking Club, is designed for Individuals & families, sponsored by the Western Mass Tracking Society, it is a program that teaches the skills and art of tracking and nature awareness and Naturalist training.
    We meet one weekend a month from September to May. $25 – 35 slideing scale family-(1 adult and 1 child), each additional child $5.

    We strongly encourage signing up for our introduction of 3 classes to help to create a foundation for learning an the Basics to Tracking

    Kamana Nature Study club, Support and sharing for students and parents who are part of the Earthwork family or our current students of the Kamana Naturalist Training Program please come to learn and study together Hitchcock Center for the Environment, Amherst MA first Friday of each month, 2:30-4:00pm. Program is by donation to support Earthworks vision; please call ahead.

    CARPOOLING
    Stephanie Who lives in Amherst is trying to arrange car pool so her son can go tracking with us.

    I have included folks email so everyone can talk to each other.

    We will meet at 10:00 AM this Saturday, and will end around 1pm.

    (413) 256-6006. (See Directions at the end). We encourage carpooling to our destination and will be doing easy to moderate hiking.

    This monthly program is for adults and children to spend time with our staff in a nurturing Community that fosters a strong connection to Nature and each other. While having an experience as an individual or family you will develop a comfort and confidence while being in the natural world. We use a mentoring approach to teach a deep awareness for and love of the Earth.

    Please bring the following:

    Hearty Lunch and snacks
    Backpack
    Water bottle
    Extra layers including rain gear and change of clothes (Be prepared!)
    A Journal
    Camera (optional)
    Nature books/Resources (optional) encouraged (tracking and Mammal studies)
    tape measure
    snow shoes if you have them
