Unsung Heroines of the Hilltowns

The recent Hilltown CDC Quarterly Newsletter congratulates eight HIlltown women who were honored at the State House in 2008 as “Unsung Heroines” for their outstanding community service by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women.  These amazing women include:

  • Donna Jordan of Cummington
  • Patricia Kennedy of Worthington
  • Kerstin Liander of Williamsburg
  • Kimberly Longey of Plainfield
  • Susan McIntosh of Huntington
  • Cynthia Oligny of Middlefield
  • Lydia Omasta of Westhampton
  • Trish Robertson of Chesterfield

A big congratulations and thank you goes out to the women, mothers, sisters and daughters for the community development work they contribute to our hilltown community of Western Massachusetts!


Thousands of women from every community of the state perform unheralded acts on a daily basis that make out homes neighborhoods, cities and towns better places to live.  They are the Unsung Heroines who use their time, talent, spirit and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others.  They are mentors, volunteers and innovators.  They are the glue that keeps a community together, they are the spark that gets things started and gets things done … they care about other people and it shows.  They don’t make thenews, they make the difference!
