Catch Recess Monkey live in Northampton on Saturday (07/26/08) for a free outdoor performance!.

Recess Monkey has released another wonderful family album, Tabby Road – and we are in luck! They will be in Northampton this Saturday, July 26 (during the sidewalk sales!) for a FREE concert for families! The critically acclaimed, award-winning trio of Seattle schoolteachers, Recess Monkey, will bring their special brand of “undeniably hip yet also kid-accessible” music and humor to their Northampton debut

  • Recess Monkey
  • 2:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 26
  • In the plaza behind Thornes Marketplace, 150 Main Street, Northampton
  • Children’s music authority Stefan Shepherd (Zooglobble) called it “the year’s most ambitious kids’ music album … the best pop-rock musical since ‘Tommy.’”

Recess Monkey weaves puns, jokes, stories, and shenanigans into their kid-inspired songs. No play on words is too much of a stretch, and no rhyme schemes are out of bounds for their genre-bending set of catchy, singable and dance-able ditties that NPR called “inventive, brilliant, multilayered,” ParentMap described as ‘a perennial favorite,” and Cookie magazine dubbed “fast paced and goofy.” Audiences call it “a great way to spend an hour rocking out!”

Presented by 93.9 The River/WRSI (and our friends Bill & Ella over at Spare the Rock!), Thornes and Herrell’s Ice Cream! In celebration, Herrell’s will offer coupons good for half off the price of a second ice cream purchase on the day of the show! YUM!
