Tomorrow is Halloween, when our family will rag shag it and trick-or-treat. My daughter will be a cheetah, again. And I’ll be a cat, again.  We’re throwing caution to the wind this year! – below I’ve rounded up a few on-line resources for our Halloween enthusiasts (me!). Included in this list are sites with saftey tips, a historical look at Halloween, costume ideas, recipes, celebration ideas, and more.

Halloween is followed by the Days of the Dead on November 1st & 2nd – another holiday we’re looking forward to celebrating and exploring together with friends. Featured on this week’s episode of HFVS is Uncle Rock’s tribute to this Mexican holiday, Picnic in the Graveyard:

Homemade Halloween Costumes
This site offers ideas for easy and inexpensive costumes, including some for wheelchair users. Browse by major category, such as “Costumes Made from Boxes” and “Do it in tights and leotards or Sweats.” Includes a recipe for homemade make-up.

The History of Halloween
A history of Halloween, traced from its origins in the “ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in)” to modern trick-or-treat, jack-o’-lantern, costume, and party activities.
