OLYMPICS – Children ages 5 through 14 from all the hilltowns were invited to sign-up and participate in the 28th annual Hilltown Junior Olympics. 8am – FAMILY RADIO – While traveling around town, tune-in to WXOJ 103.3 FM in Northampton, MA, from 8-10am to hear fabulous family-friendly music on Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child [All ages] (Free)

9am – BOOK SALE – Stock up on books for your kids at the NOHO League of Women Voters book sale at the Smith Vocational HS in Northampton, MA. Teachers may select free books for classroom use after 3 pm. [Families] ($)

10am – STORYTELLING – The Springfield Museum in Springfield, MA, is hosting a multi-cultural, early literacy festival for young children on the quadrangle green. Sunday – 09/30

SHAKER COUNTRY FAIR – The Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield, MA, is having their 10th Annual Country Fair. Events for the whole family, including a Kid’s Tent with craft activities and children’s games, a scavenger hunt, horse-drawn wagon rides, and fall farm activities you can try throughout the Village. In the Farmer’s Market, booths from purveyors of locally grown, raised or made food will be offering goods for sale. Traditional crafts will be demonstrated and offered for sale by top local artisans, including Shaker-style oval boxes, hand-woven textiles, brooms, hand-crafted furniture and clocks, seed boxes, and other products. 413.443.0188 [Families] ($)

9:30pm – EDUCATOR WORKSHOPS – Discover the difference between reading with children and reading to children at the Eric Carle Museum in Amherst, MA. This introduction to the Museum’s Whole Book Approach focusing on the work of Tony DiTerlizzi is designed to give educators the tools to evaluate the picture book as an art form and to use this critical engagement as a platform for leading interactive picture book reading experiences with their students.
