Springfest Celebrates Building Community Through Music

On May 19th from 11am-4pm the Northampton Community Music Center will host its annual citywide celebration of building community music in Northampton, MA. More than 200 children, adults, and faculty will play live music at various locations throughout downtown.

Students and faculty of the Northampton Community Music Center (NCMC) will take to the streets during Saturday, May 19 for Springfest. The day of performances is sponsored by local businesses and raises crucial funds for the Music Center’s programming and scholarship fund.

The day’s concert schedule will be published in the Valley Advocate and available that day. Over 50 businesses are participating in Springfest, with 40 performances planned at City Hall, Hampshire County Courthouse, Memorial Hall, the Art Kiosk, and business locations throughout downtown Northampton.

The Northampton Community Music Center is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is “to foster the love and pursuit of music within the community through quality musical education, performances, and activities that are accessible to all.” NCMC’s talented faculty offer a diverse range of musical programs to more than 750 participants a year—both adults and children—and bring concerts and other musical events to hundreds more in our surrounding communities, uniting people of all ages and backgrounds through the shared experience of music. NCMC is the only music school in Hampshire County that offers financial aid: no qualifying student has ever been denied scholarship.
