The Hilltown Spring Festival is a free event and will be happening on May 19th, 2007 in Cummington, MA. The festival’s roster is packed with non-stop entertainment, and will have a variety of arts & crafts and good food!

MUSIC

Among the musical groups to perform on two stages are Shakuzoba, a nine-member band with an “Afro-pop” influence; Old Folks at Home, a perennial crowd-pleasing duo; Radio Free Earth, specializing in cross-over “roots” music, and Malachite, a youthful Celtic rock band. Members of the Hilltown Alliance of Musicians (HAMS) will be on hand to play, the Select Chorus from Hampshire Regional High School will be among the school groups slated to perform and there will be plenty of surprises as well.

FOOD

Among the restaurants participating are the Old Creamery in Cummington, Bread Euphoria and Blue House Café in Haydenville, and The Brewmaster’s Tavern in Williamsburg. In addition, the Cummington Fire Department will be there to grill family favorites and a new business, Hilltown Ice Cream, will make its debut at the fairgrounds.

SCHEDULE

The Festival, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Cummington Fairgrounds in Cummington, marks 25 years of service to the region by Hilltown CDC. It is intended as a showcase for the vibrancy, diversity and talent of local businesses, artists, craftspeople and performers. “We’ve had a tremendous response from the entire community and we are looking forward to a spectacular day,” said Andrew Baker, Hilltown CDC’s executive director. “We are particularly appreciative of our generous sponsors and other supporters and welcome the many artists, performers, businesses and community groups that are participating.”

VOLUNTEERS WANTED

HCDC is continuing to accept applications from participants and volunteers, including anyone interested in joining a rapidly growing tag sale. Tag sale participants will be expected to bring their own table and remove all unsold items at the end of the day. Students from Hampshire Regional have volunteered to help out and more are needed.
