Local Celebrations for the Week of the Young Child [April 21-28, 2007]
Ways to Celebrate the Week of the Young Child (2007)
Hilltown families are invited to join hundreds of local organizations around the country that will celebrate the Week of the Young Child.
- WYC honors children from birth through age eight in America.
- WYC honors the adults who help children make the most of the opportunities of their early years.
- WYC offers a chance to celebrate the learning opportunities of young children.
- WYC recognizes the responsibilities we share for young children make the most of the early years.
There are several local celebrations during the Week of the Young Child designed to build broader support for early childhood programs that nurture young children’s early learning and growth:
April 19 @ 7:15pm – Mayoral Proclamation declaring Week of Young Child at Northampton City Council meeting.
April 21 @ 11am – Rally and speak-out ont the Greenfield Town Common to honor the child care community by bringing attention to the issues of equity, peace & justice for children, families & child care workers.
April 21-28 – Children’s art exhibit. Children’s artwork displayed in 40 businesses throughout Northampton and Florence, Ma.
April 28 @ 10am – Children’s Parade and Festival, Jackson St. School in Northamton.
May 1 @ 6:30pm – Parent Workshop. Kids Don’t Come with Instructions – a panel for parents to bring their questions to; panel will include pediatrician, social worker, and early childhood specialists

Join the Week of the Young Child Parade at the Public Safety Complex at 10am – Parade will end at the Fair!
Fun Activities provided for Children at each vendor’s table.
Valuable resources and Information for Parents.
Early Childhood Professionals on Site to answer all your questions.
Martial Arts Demonstration by DragonFly. Join in a game of “Sensei Says”
Musica and Me! Presents DJ Aric Biegnek! Latin Dance Music and popular Family Favorites for the whole family to enjoy!
AND THEN……
After the Fair, Have Lunch (kids under 8 eat FREE) at participating local restaurants
THEN….
1-4pm Safe Kids Are Healthy Kids at the Public Safety Complex
