May Spring Festival in the Hills
Hilltown Spring Festival – May 19th, 2007
Marking its 25th year of service to the region, Hilltown CDC will present its first-ever Hilltown Spring Festival on May 19 at the Cummington Fairgrounds. Planned activities include live performances by area musicians and community groups, a crafts show, business expo, children’s entertainment, and, of course, an abundance of food and drink offered by local restaurants and businesses.
HCDC is seeking participants and volunteers, including artists and craftspeople, performers, community and school performing groups, local businesses – including traditional hilltown crafts and skills – and restaurants or caterers who would like to take part. Tag sale participants are being recruited and a large contingent of volunteers is also needed to assist in a variety of responsibilities. Non-profit organizations are welcome to participate as well.
HCDC also welcomes all businesses, organizations or individuals who would like to become sponsors of the festival.
“The mission of Hilltown CDC is to improve the quality of life for Western Massachusetts hilltown residents by addressing economic, educational and social needs while preserving the rural character of the area. As we celebrate our first 25 years of service and move forward into the second quarter century, we thought it would be appropriate to create an event that celebrates the talent, the creativity and the incredible diversity of businesses serving the hilltown community,” said Andrew Baker, HCDC’s executive director. “A festival is particularly appropriate because it brings people together in a common spirit of fun and appreciation. Who knows? It might even become an annual event.”
With free admission, the Hilltown Spring Festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m on Saturday, May 19. There is a $5 per car parking fee. Booth and tag sale fees are $10 for businesses and $20 for food providers. (The Town of Cummington also requires an annual vendor fee of $20 for craft vendors and $40 for food vendors.) Participants should make checks out to “Hilltown CDC.” Any proceeds beyond festival expenses will support Hilltown CDC programs
Any business, organization or individual wishing to participate, should contact Bob Miller at miller.bob@verizon.net or 413-527-9554.
