Finally … it snowed! Not enough for all those fun outdoor sports, but just enough to give us hope for a possible New England winter performance. Speaking of performance, Elizabeth Street will be a Cup & Top on Saturday. Not to be missed.
Monday is a holiday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Fortunately the Berkshire Museum has a family event for the afternoon to bring the kids too. There are a lot of good books available to read up and share stories on MLK with the family. Check them out from your local library for a good read. If you have plans on attending the Sushi Making with Kids class, the library also has many good books on sushi and rice to review before going.

10am – PARENTING WORKSHOP – There will be a free parenting workshop, Temperament: Why Does She Act This Way? at the Lilly Library in Florence, MA, led by a licensed early childhood mental health consultant, Sarah Patton. Looking at our own and our children’s temperaments can help increase communication and cooperation. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
1pm – COMMUNITY CELEBRATION – At the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, MA, from 1-4pm. “I Have a Dream” Community Celebration in the memory of visionary leader Martin Luther King, Jr. Readings from King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, followed by Youth Alive step dancing and drumming troupe, will kick off our celebrations. Sample soul food and create your own “I Have a Dream” poster to display at the museum for a day or take home with you. Free with Berkshire Museum admission. [Families] (Free w/admission)

Thanks for noting the Elizabeth Street show! In addition to playing at Cup & Top, they’ll be on our show, Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child (8-10 AM on Saturdays on Valley Free Radio 103.3FM) that morning.
Elizabeth Street plays terrific melodic pop, with much subtler lyrics than most kids’ artists. I’m excited to see what they’re like live and acoustic, and I hope lots of folks show up to Cup & Top.
