ABOUT FIRST ANNUAL HILLTOWN BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL
The festival is a fundraiser to benefit the Hilltown Community Development Corporation (CDC). It will feature live bluegrass and old-time music by New England bands. Headlining the festival is Western Mass-based ‘Appalachian Still‘, a bluegrass and old-time band formed in 2005. While rooted in bluegrass and old-time traditions, Appalachian Still draws significant influence from classic rock, blues, folk, and country. They have two albums to their credit, “Lost and Found” released in 2007 and “Feelin’ Alive” in 2010. Joining Appalachian Still is ‘Acoustic Brew‘, playing what they affectionately refer to as “Brewgrass – a bluegrass-infused blend of original compositions, traditional songs, and old school country and blues, generously seasoned with covers of classic tunes from bands like the Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Band, Fred Eaglesmith and more.” Also joining the line-up are bands Sweetheart Mountain and Rocky Hill.

Hilltown Families rocks! Just went to an amazing talk on GMO free, learned of many great community activities. Love your format too! Hello Hilltown! Thanks for posting all of the Bluegrass events in 2012. I used to work for dobro player, Jerry Douglas’ record label back in the day. We recently went to the KY Derby event at The Pines too. Our son loved the bouncy castle but we missed the mint juleps that were served up the year before in the burg. We recently relocated to Pelham, MA from Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn and we count on Hilltown events to meet those cool, down-to-earth families out there. See ya on the 10th David
